Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s

Don’ts

DO consider temperature
The Power Bank should not be charged at temperature of under 5 degrees and should not be discharged at temperature over 40 degrees

DO NOT drop the Power Bank
The Power Bank contains a circuit board and other fragile components inside. Always make sure to handle it carefully. Don't drop or throw it.

DO disconnect the charger of your Power Bank as soon as it’s fully charged
This is also useful when charging your device.

DO NOT expose the Power Bank to extreme temperatures
Batteries prefer temperature between 5 and 25 degrees. The more you deviate from that comfort zone, the bigger are the irretrievable capacity losses that might result. This also includes not covering the Power Bank with blanket or clothes.

DO charge your Power Bank even if you don’t use it
To keep the Power Bank in good working condition, you should charge it at least in every three months.

DO NOT keep your Power Bank in a pocket or bag with metal objects
It is always best to be careful and make sure they are never placed in a position where metal objects could short the output.

DO avoid fully charging your Power Bank
For best performance and longer lifetime do charge your Power Bank only up to 95%.

DO NOT charge your Power Bank and your device at the same time
It affects the PCB and battery health of Power Banks due to excessive heat production in both kinds of charging.

Methods to Get Maximum Output

Power banks are essentially external batteries that provide power to your phone using volts and amps. Below are some methods which will help to increase the speed and battery capacity you can get from power banks.

  1. Check for background apps running on your phone. Background apps can drain your phone’s battery even when the screen is turned off, this will reduce the charge from the power bank as your phone will be consuming battery as the power bank recharges. To increase the battery charge, turn off any background apps or set apps to sleep when your phone is turned off.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi when the screen is off. Some phones have an option to disable background Wi-Fi when the screen is off, this will reduce the drain on your battery while charging.
  3. Turn off Bluetooth, like Wi-Fi Bluetooth which operates in the background can also reduce the charge. It is recommended to turn this off when not in use.
  4. Switch your phone into battery saving mode while charging, this will increase the amount of charge you will get from your power bank and also increase the charging speed.
  5. If you really need a fast charge and don’t immediately need to use your phone, turn your phone off while charging. This is the fastest method to charge a phone as there will be no power dissipation while your phone is charging.

Maintenance and Safety Information

a) Do not use your power banks in high temperature and humidity:

Whenever you charge your laptop, it may happen, the system just crashes when it gets too hot. The same law works for the power banks also. Power Banks are made up of Lithium –ion or Lithium-polymer batteries that uses internal cells for power storage. Thus, overheating and excessive temperature leads these power banks to explode

b) Do not use your Mobile Phone while charging:

Whenever you use your mobile devices while charging, you may notice that it gets hot. This is the same for the power bank also that it will lead to an explosion while charging. So, don’t do such activities like playing games or chatting with friends whenever your mobile devices are getting charged by the power bank.

c) Do not charge your power bank until it’s fully discharged:

Charge your power bank devices when it totally runs out of power. This will increase the lifespan of your power bank

d) Use your power bank regularly:

Use and recharge your power bank frequently. This will help to maintain your power bank and increase the lifespan of the battery.

e) Avoid using external charger:

Use only the original charger to charge your power bank rather than any external one. Using an external charger not only affects your power bank but also your mobile devices.

f) Handle your power bank with care:

Avoid dropping or knocking. Do not put heavy things on your power bank. Do not sit on it as power banks are too sensitive.

Safe Disposal

Dead batteries can cause fire when the positive (+) and negative (-) ends come into contact. This can happen when battery cells are casually dumped in a drawer or container, especially with other free-flowing metals that can conduct electricity and ignite. Ensure you keep old batteries safely - perhaps stand them upright, all facing one direction or tape the + and - ends of batteries. Ensure they are tightly packed to avoid sudden movement that can scatter them, and then consider appropriate means of disposal as indicated below.

a) Find out what your local laws say about disposing of batteries. In some places, there are different classifications for various batteries that indicate how best to dispose of them.

b) Take to a recycling place or hazardous waste collection centre depending on your local laws

c) Lithium batteries are used in many gadgets and are considered non-hazardous in some places. It might be safer to take them to a recycling centre.

d) At home, put your recyclable batteries in a designed container ensuring positive and negative ends don’t touch; to avoid the risk of fire

e) In some places, supermarkets are also providing safe recycling bins for old batteries.

f) You can also pop into your local fire station for advice and assistance.

SAFETY ALERTS AND GUIDELINES

Warning and Caution

⚠️ Keep away from fire, water and excess temperature ( > 45°C ) and too low temperature ( <-20°C)

⚠️ Keep the Power Bank away from heat sources, direct sunlight, humidity, water or other liquids.

⚠️ Please do not remove, or modify products, in order to avoid damage to the product protection and leading to fire or explosion.

⚠️ Do not dismantle, crush, puncture and short circuit the power bank, or expose it to liquids, fire or an environment where the temperature is above 55°C.

⚠️ Store in a cool and dry place.

⚠️ Do not operate the Power Bank if it has been wet or damaged to prevent electric shock. Doing so may cause electric shock or fire and the battery may malfunction or explode. Don’t store your device together with metal objects, such as coins, keys and necklaces.

⚠️ Please do not severely cast throw, or hit the power bank, in order to protect products from abnormal phenomena such as sag, perforation, craze and corrosion, please stop using and contact vendors or manufacturers.

⚠️ This power bank is not suitable for physiological and mentally low individuals (including children) use.

⚠️ The Power Bank will generate heat when charging. Use it in a well-ventilated area when charging.

⚠️ Do not use the Power Bank with wet hands.

⚠️ Keep the Power Bank ports free from dust, lint, etc. which may prevent proper connections.

⚠️ The Power Bank is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children.

⚠️ Lithium-ion batteries can easily rupture, ignite, or explode when exposed to high temperatures, or direct sunlight. Do not charge under pillows or blankets. They should not be stored in a car during hot weather. Short-circuiting a Li-ion battery can also cause it to ignite or explode. Never open a Li-ion battery’s casing. Li-ion batteries contain safety devices that protect the cells inside from abuse. If damaged, these can cause the battery to ignite or explode. Do not charge the Power Bank and charge an electronic device at the same time. This will shorten the Power Bank’s battery life.

⚠️ Please read the user manual carefully before using the Product.

How to preserve your Power Bank when unused

a) Store Power Bank at 40%-50% Charge

Many users often store their power banks fully charged or at very high charge levels. This wears out the Li-ion/Li-Po batteries very quickly and should always be avoided.

Similarly, many users store depleted power banks for long after a trip and only charge the power banks before their next trip. This should also be avoided as keeping the batteries in a depleted state for a long period effectively kills the battery in a few months.

The optimum charging for storage for modern Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries is about 40 to 50%.  You should therefore aim to not discharge the power banks below this level for long periods.

b) Keep Power Bank Store at Cool Area

Powerbanks use chemical reactions to produce electricity and like all chemical reactions’ higher temperature lead to faster reactions. Power bank degradation is also temperature dependent and keeping power banks in a hot storage will degrade them very fast.

Ideally, keep the power banks at room temperature (60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 20-28 degrees Celsius). Also always avoid storing the power banks in enclosed glass cases exposed to sunlight or in overly hot workplaces.

The best-kept-cool rule also applies during use. A hot power bank will discharge much more quickly.

Keeping power banks cool does not mean that you should refrigerate them or keep them in cold conditions.  The freezing temperature will disable the power bank altogether. A too cold power bank will also take ages to charge.

How to Transport Your Power Bank

a) When sending any device containing a Li-Ion battery, you should always pack the item with the utmost care. The best-case scenario would be to ship your power bank in its original packaging.

b) Please, make sure that your device can’t move in its packaging. If you’re not sure, you can put some cushioning material inside the box.

c) The aim of proper packaging is also to protect your power bank against any short circuit possibility.

d) Make sure that any battery-powered device that you send cannot be activated during transit.

e) The packaging for power banks must be robust.

f) If you have any additional questions regarding the packaging tips for shipping a power bank overseas, feel free to contact the customer service of your carrier.

g) Ask the logistics company whether you need to print a shipping label. When you send a portable charger abroad by courier, some additional labels may be required.

Precautions and Usage Instructions

Precautions

a) Some USB data cables or USB charging cables, that are not compatible with the power bank or can't be used should be avoided, instead choose or purchase the charging cable of the same mobile brand.

b) When the power bank can't charge digital products, please check the charging cable and connectors, whether connected properly or change the cable. After digital devices are fully charged, please unplug the charging cable timely to avoid power loss.

c) Because of the high charge and discharge current, please choose good quality charging cables and connectors.

d) Please make sure the power bank is fully charged when using it for the first time. Make sure that the product is fully charged at least once in two or three months.

e) Prolonged use will lead to fever but will not be extremely hot, which is a normal phenomenon.

f) During charging of the power bank, please unplug the cable within 30mins when the power bank is get fully charged else overcharging will harm the battery.

g) While using output through a single port power bank delivers maximum power but if dual or more ports using at the same time then the power bank will divide power into two or three.

For Example 1: Power Bank support 12W output delivers a maximum current is 2.4A.

In Fig. 1, in single port usage Power bank will deliver 2.4A current and the other port is not in use

In Fig. 2, if all the ports are used on a single phase then the power bank will divide the current into two ports.

For Example 2: Power Bank supports 18W QC/PD Output and delivers a maximum current is 3.0A.

In Fig. 3, in single port usage Power bank will operate in only one parameter whether QC or PD and will provide the output ratio mentioned in the figure.

In Fig. 4, if all the ports are used on a single phase then the power bank will work on basic parameters i.e. 5V and the current will be divided into all the ports.

Usage Instruction

a) Charging: Avoid leaving your power bank on prolonged charge as this may cause it to overheat. Follow Ambrane’s guidelines by the time required to fully charge your power bank. If the power bank becomes excessively hot during charging or discharging, unplug it from the power source or your mobile device immediately. Avoid charging the power bank in places that build up heat, such as on your bed.

b) Avoid short circuits: Keep your power bank away from metal objects such as coins, paper clips and keys. Do not insert any metal objects inside the USB output port or joining terminals of the power bank. Short circuits may present risks of excessive heat, fire or explosion.

c) Storage: Keep the power bank in a cool and dry place away from heat sources, moisture and dust. Avoid leaving the power bank in places with high temperature such as cars parked under the sun.

d) Avoid applying excessive pressure on the power bank or dropping the power bank: By doing so, it may damage the internal components of the power bank and risk short circuiting the device when used. Always inspect the power bank and refrain from using it if leakage, strange odour, color changes, deformation or any unusual occurrences are detected.

e) Do not Use Pass through Charging: Pass through charging means using the power bank to charge your devices while the power bank itself is being charging. This wears down the batteries very fast and should be avoided.

TROUBLESHOOTING & PROBLEM DETECTION

Troubleshooting

Factory Reset: The Ambrane Power Bank is designed to safeguard against short-circuiting by entering a temporary, protective mode, waiting to be reset. To reset, connect the Power Bank to an AC/wall adapter via quality charging cable and plug the AC adapter into wall socket; un-plug and re-plug the Power Bank’s side of the cable while leaving the AC adapter plugged in the socket.

Battery Voltage Down: No use or no charging on power bank for so long time, the battery voltage goes to absolute discharge level or cut off level means voltage below than low voltage. At this stage the power bank will not turn ON even not on charging (LED indicator will not blink). On this stage you need to boost up the battery voltage or your need to put your power bank on charging for5 to 6 hours.

Problem Detection

LED lights blinking but power bank won’t charge

In some cases, the power bank is not charging even though it’s plugged in and the LED lights are blinking, thus indicating that charging is taking place. Even if you wait for several hours or a day, the power bank just won’t charge. There are possibilities that it charges halfway with the lights showing it is not yet fully charged or there is a possibility that its internal circuits can be failed.

The power bank battery might have died

a) If your power bank does not appear to be getting charged as no lights turn on when connected to a power source nor it charges your mobile phone when connected to it, then it is likely that the power bank has suffered an internal failure.

b) If the power bank suffered a hard shock like a fall or was left in a hot environment for a long time, there is a possibility that its internal circuits have failed.

c) If you have used your power bank quite frequently, then it is possible that the batteries have completed their life. Power bank batteries have a life of 300 to 1000 power cycles, depending usage of the customer.

FAQ's

Q. What is the lifespan of a power bank?
