How to Check If Your Car Supports Wired CarPlay/Android Auto

Method 1:
Connect your phone to your car with a USB cable. If CarPlay or Android Auto shows up on the display, your car is compatible.

Check the official websites for accuracy:

How to Use for Streaming:

• Insert the Type-C end of the cable into the Type-C port of CarLink Stream, insert the other end (Type-C or USB-A)into the car’s data-enabled port (the one used for wired CarPlay/Android Auto).
  
  
• Wait for the device to power on (indicator light turns on).
• On first booting the Carlink Stream will reboot once and adjust automatically the car multimedia screen and resolution. Wait for reboot and the homescreen will appear.
  
  
• Turn on mobile data on your phone and enable hotspot. 

• Make sure to turn off the bluetooth on your phone; The connected Apple CarPlay/Android Auto will resultantly be disconnected since streaming is not available on both the infotainment platforms. 

• Now connect the car’s WiFi to your phone’s hotspot to access the internet.

• Once paired,  you can enjoy hassle-free streaming on your car’s digital screen!

• Click on the ‘home’ icon, scroll through apps to find preloaded streaming platforms like Netflix, YouTube, etc. 

• If you wish to download other streaming apps & video games, you may download them through the ‘Google Play Store’ visible on the screen. 

• In case you don’t have an internet connection, you can insert a memory card (up to 128GB) in CarLink Stream’s memory card slot, present on the opposite end of the Type-C port. Stream downloaded files without depending on your smartphone or an internet connection. 

How to Use for Android Auto/Apple CarPlay:

• Insert the Type-C end of the cable into the Type-C port of CarLink Stream, insert the other end (Type-C or USB-A)into the car’s data-enabled port (the one used for wired CarPlay/Android Auto).
  
  
• Wait for the device to power on (indicator light turns on).
  
  
• Connect your phone to the adapter’s Bluetooth: "Ambrane CarLink Stream - XXXX".
  
  
• Once paired,  you can enjoy wireless CarPlay or Android Auto wirelessly!
  
  
• You're ready to go!

LED Indicator:

If your iPhone doesn’t connect and the blue light flashes, an Android device might be interfering. Disconnect its Bluetooth and try again.

Important  Notes: 

• Android phones must disconnect Bluetooth before switching to Apple CarPlay.
  
  
• Only one phone can be connected at a time. Your previously connected phone auto connects the next time.
  
  
• Always ensure your car supports wired CarPlay/Android Auto and the adapter light is on.

• Only insert the USB-A or Type-C dongle into the data-enabled port, not a charging port as the product may not work. 

• You cannot use streaming services and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto at the same time. To prevent the hassle of reconnecting, you may download apps like Spotify and YouTube Music from Google Play Store alongside streaming apps. 

• Internet speed depends on your internet connection. 

• The streaming video quality & Resolution will depend on internet speed and Portable Hotspot internet signal strength.

Q: How do I know if my car is compatible with CarLink Stream?

A: CarLink Stream works with all vehicles that include factory-installed wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Q: Which port should I use to plug in the dongle?

A: You can use either USB-A or Type-C. Ensure you connect to a data-enabled port, not a charging-only port.

Q: Do I need a phone app?

A: No apps are required on your phone. CarLink Stream runs apps natively and is fully plug-and-play.

Q: Can I use streaming apps like YouTube or Netflix?

A: Yes. CarLink Stream includes Google Play Store and comes preloaded with YouTube and Netflix. You can install others as needed.

Q: Will steering wheel and touchscreen controls still work?

A: Yes. CarLink Stream integrates with your vehicle’s OEM controls including steering wheel buttons, rotary knobs, and touchscreen.

Q: Does it support both Android and iPhone?

A: Yes. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay (iOS 11+) and wireless Android Auto (Android 10+).

Q: Can multiple users pair?

A: Multiple phones can pair, but only one connects at a time. Switching phones is quick and simple.

Q: Do I have to keep running videos on my phone to support streaming on my car’s screen?

A: No, CarLink Stream works independently, without mirroring on your smartphone.

Q: Why does it have TF card support? What can I do with it?

A: The TF (microSD) slot lets you expand storage and play local files. Insert a microSD card to access music, videos, or photos directly through CarLink Stream’s media player, no internet or phone required!

Q: How do I get streaming apps like YouTube & Netflix on CarLink Stream?

A: The device has Google Play Store built in. You can download and install apps just like on a phone or tablet. Some essentials like YouTube and Netflix may come pre-installed. The Video quality and resolution will depend on the hotspot's wireless speed. 

Q: Android Auto/Apple CarPlay not starting?

A: Try disconnecting the iPhone’s Bluetooth before switching and vice versa.

Q: No audio / call issues?

• Disconnect other Bluetooth devices (like earbuds, watches).
  
  
• Make sure the audio source is set to CarPlay/Android Auto during calls.
  
  

Q: Why is the adapter light still on after turning off the car?

A: Some cars delay cutting power. It’s safe and doesn’t drain your battery.

Q: Can I use other Wi-Fi while using this adapter?

A: No. The adapter uses your phone’s Wi-Fi. Use mobile data for the internet.

Q: Having issues with the apps downloaded via Google Play Store?

A: Any issues related to third-party apps after installation are not covered under the product’s functionality. 

Q: Auto reconnect not working?

• Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on when entering the car.
  
  
• Clear old pairings and restart the phone if needed.
  
  

Q: Can I pair with multiple phones?

A: Yes, up to 5. But only one can connect at a time. The last used phone reconnects automatically. 

Q: SD Card not detected by the car/having issues using memory card?

A: The size limit for SD cards via CarLink Stream is up to 128GB, please check your memory card's compatibility for the same. 

Q: Can’t find Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

• Make sure the adapter is powered on.
  
  
• Try another phone to test.
  
  
• If it still doesn’t work, reset your phone’s network settings.

• Keep your CarLink Stream dry and away from moisture and corrosive materials.
• Do not clean the product with harsh chemicals, soaps or detergents. Just wipe it with a soft cloth.
• To prevent fire or shock hazards, do not expose this unit to rain or moisture.
• Do not expose this unit to extremes of temperature.
• Immediately terminate the use of the product if the item bulges, smells or leaks.
• Do not place this unit directly onto furniture surfaces with any type of soft, porous, or sensitive finish. 
• Keep your device out of reach of small children to prevent danger.
• Like most e-waste, this unit is recyclable and should not be disposed of in normal household waste. Contact your local government for disposal or recycling practices in your area.
• Keep away from fire, water, and excess temperature ( > 45°C ) and too low temperature ( <-20°C).
• Do not dismantle, crush, puncture or expose the product to liquids, fire or an environment where the temperature is above 55°C.
